Spies, Kings & Exiles: True Stories. Remarkable People. The Jewish History You Were Never Taught.
Over the years I’ve written dozens of articles for the Yated on lesser-known stories from Jewish history — including a three-part series running right now during the Three Weeks. People have often asked me for copies of articles they enjoyed, so this is a first attempt at making them available to the public.
The book is entirely self-published. It brings together twelve of those stories — each one rewritten and expanded to read like a standalone thriller. Every one of them made me say I can’t believe I never knew this.
Here’s a taste of what’s inside:
• A pharaoh’s sealed tomb and the clues to a plague no one can explain
• Four kidnapped rabbis who turned a pirate’s ransom into a revolution of the mind
• A monk who challenges a rabbi to a debate that will decide the fate of Spanish Jewry
• The same day Columbus set sail, Jewish families were crammed into ships in a nearby harbor — fleeing for their lives
• A Jewish spy who bankrolled George Washington’s war — and died without a penny
• The Dreyfus Affair, the Damascus blood libel, Pesach during Prohibition
• The Nazis’ most dangerous commando and the rescue that doomed Rome’s Jews
The history is real. The stories are unbelievable. And none of this was on the test.
